Nicolaus
It's hard to write a caption for a picture like this. I start to say something
goofy and then I look at the picture and all I want to do is pile him
up on my lap and tell him the story about the little boy named Nicolaus
and his pet monkey and his friend Jayce
who built a boat, using a hammer and nails and a drill and a screwdriver.
Then the little boy put the boat in the back of his daddy's truck and
drove it to the river where they all went fishing. The monkey carried
the cooler with their bottles and bananas, and the baby Jayce carried
the rod and reel. Nicolaus put the boat in the water, and in they all
went. Lots of things always happen on their fishing trip, depending on
my whims. They meet a dangerous snake, a talking frog, and catch a giant
catfish.
I tell this story every day, and Nicolaus listens to every word, filling
in the blanks as we go.
