Every single thing we do in life, from shopping for a new pair of shoes to choosing whether to take Calculus II or pottery this semester to who we date to how we raise our kids, every single moment is all part of an unconscious drive toward the moment in life when we pull out our wallet and say “Would you like to see a picture of my grandchildren?”
You know how songs get stuck in your head? Sometimes regular old, non-song words or phrases wind themselves around my brain in a loop like that. It can be in a particular person’s voice, like a line from a movie or a tv show, or sometimes it’s just something I read somewhere repeating itself in the background over and over.
Once it was Salmon Rushdie – at the time I had know idea who or what that was. Another time it was something Monica said on friends… not anything funny really, just a little part of a sentence. Or it’ll be words I haven’t heard in a long time like crankshaft, ogilvy, bygones, presbyterian, balloon payment.

I have a toothache. I’m afraid of dentists. Yipes.
I’m also trying to fight off a cold.
And if this baby pees on me one more time today I’m giving up and going to bed.
