I’m not sure why LLL hasn’t hired me yet
Whenever I write copy for clients, I always encourage them to be completely honest in their marketing. The truth is always simpler, and simple, clean statements are always easier to read and more compelling than a bunch of marketing blah blah blah. It’s a good business strategy - people aren’t stupid, they know when they’re being blah-blahed to - but more importantly, writing fluffy nonsense makes my head hurt.
Which is why I’m a little disappointed in the slogan for the La Leche League: Happy mothers, breastfed babies
It is succinct I guess, but I don’t know. Happy mothers? I think they leave a lot of mothers feeling resentful when the experience is not 100% happy, especially during those rough early weeks. Here are a few possible new slogans I think they should consider…



And cracked nipples, embarrassing leaks, frustrating supply problems, painful latch, mastitis, and clogged ducts are all invited.
