And now 237 words from our sponser

1. Please buy holiday cards! I moved them to a new etsy shop. All the bad words didn’t gel with the cute baby products.

2. New and improved Nerdy Baby goodies:
Starting next week, the Nerdy Baby ABC flash cards are going to be available in a much more flash-cardy form. I just had them re-printed and they are now a teeny bit smaller, printed on heavier paper with adorable rounded corners. And! The 1-2-3s will now be available in flash card form. There will also be a groovy discount if you buy the ABCs and 123s together. I’m friendly like that.

The last thing, and I really might mean last because I’m officially out of money to spend on new products for awhile, which is a shame because omg you should SEE the cute things I want to do next, are the baby books. The Story of YOU as told by nerds will be available as a real live, no kidding hardbound book. The cover is a lovely grey coated linen, with hand-painted silver details. These are all at the bindery right now and will arrive here in about a week. There will be much jumping up and down and flapping and happy girl-squeals when they arrive. I’ll be sure to post pictures.

3. Crazy reseller program
I am testing out a thing. A deal, if you will. A program. If you would be interested in possibly selling science-themed kid’s art to your nerdy friends, family, coworkers, and/or area strangers please e-mail me for details. Sellers will receive 20 – 30% commissions without buying any inventory. It’s like Avon but for nerds. Nerdvon! Okay maybe not. But anyway, email me. creative@tiffanyard.com

bird’s-eye view

I need to go to bed, it is almost 5 in the morning and my parents are coming to visit tomorrow and it would be better if I weren’t too tired to safely drive to the airport to get them. But what’s another minute? I think this is neat – kids’ artwork is so cool at this age, before kids notice that they suck at drawing and either give up or start copying everyone else. So for now — until he finds out that kids draw a line across the bottom for the ground and etc, Nicolaus likes to draw pictures from above. The other day he drew this one and offered to let me pin it up over my work table… it’s an Egyptian pyramid. That’s its shadow to the left.

Me, asking stupid questions and getting nonstupid answers

1. Me at my desk, working on a drawing of Buddha, trying not to be distracted by very loud fart noises coming from the small child standing behind me.

(motorboat spit noises followed by “HAAA!”)

(more of same)

“Graham.”

(more.)

“Graham?”

“(prolonged spit-fart noise) HAAA!!”

“What are you doing?”

“I AM YELLING HA. HA!”

“No I mean that toot noise. What is that?”

“THAT NOISE IS ME ‘PITTING.”

“I know, but why. Why are you spitting?”

“BECAUSE I LIKE TO. I LIKE TO DO THAT. SO I’M DOING THAT ‘PIT NOIIIIISE.”

2. In the living room. Nicolaus is in tears.
“GRAHAM. Did you knock over Nicolaus’ blocks?”

“Yeah,” he sounds sad about it.

“Why did you do that?”

“Cos I was being MEAN to him.”

“Why were you being mean?”

“Because,” His voice now sounds impatient with my stupidity, “I was knocking over his building.”

“If I let you get down are you going to do that anymore?”

“Yeah,” he sighs sadly, “I am.”

3. Bathroom. Four minutes after bedtime. I lean into the bathroom doorway to see what in the heck Graham is doing out of bed. He is standing at the bathroom sink with the water running.

“I’m just washing my underwear.”

“Oh, did you have a tinkle accident?”

“Yeah I did. And I also tinkled in my bed.”

“Aw, how did that happen?” It was rhetorical. Meaning, how did that happen ten seconds after you went to the bathroom.

“With my wiener.”

OMMMMMMMMmmmmmm
